LED Tail Light
« on: July 06, 2014, 21:35:00 »
Hi,

Has anyone installed LED Tail lights on their Vstrom at all? Please attach photos/links please. I am thinking of getting one but not sure what it will look like.

Also, does anyone know if a 2008 vstrom replacement light will fit a 2010??

Thank you.

The bulbs are the same for both years. The brightest LEDs are very directional and don't light the reflector. The only advantages I know of for LEDs are they last longer, use less power, and react more quickly to brake light activation. I made the change on my old bike but didn't think it was worth the expense on my new bike.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

I started my own thread about LED lights for the rear of the strom...  http://www.v-strom.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=23673

Not quite about just bulbs, but the whole rear light... but thought I'd share.

I didn't take mine off...  Once U've undone the nuts,  it is held in with the plastic where it meets the back of the seat.

As a tip,  once it's off a little,  I had to unplug the rear reg light as it was the shortest wire before I could move the rear section out or the way.
