Service intervals
« on: September 17, 2015, 20:54:14 »
I read with interest in this weeks MCN that Suzuki have changed the service intervals for the 2015 VStrom 650 .
It says they no longer need the 4000 mile service just the initial 600 and then the 7000 . This is because of a " change in oil grades "
Does anyone know what the new oil grade is and can it be used in older bikes ?
Thanks

I've gone to 7,000 mile intervals. There's no difference in oils as far as I know. I contacted Suzuki Customer Services and asked what the changes were and got a reply saying they didn't know as the factory doesn't tell them so I best stick to 4000 intervals  :text-datsphatyo:  I replied saying that was basically bollocks...

I do change my oil/filter around 6 months though (c.4,000 miles) mainly after winter as it was getting milky. If that problem doesn't occur this winter (think it was breather sponge being stuffed in blocking hole) I'll not bother.

Thanks for that , I think I'll do what I've done with all my previous bikes . I average about 6000 miles a year so I'll change the oil when winter ends ( they stop salting the roads ! ) and that should do me until the first frosts of November
