RIP Gary Speed
« on: November 28, 2011, 06:31:21 »
Gary Speed was found dead at the weekend, aged 42. The Wales manager was a great player & manager and had Wales playing some great International football. I know he played for a few clubs and his contribution at Newcastle, from a personal point of veiw, was particularly impressive. Gary was also part of the Leeds United side that won the last ever First Division title before it became the Premiership. Rest in Peace.

Had me shocked all day Sunday, this news. Met him once in Newcastle City Centre, what a natural, unassuming bloke. What a Captain, what a header of the ball. RIP.

I started a thread about this on the ukgers site, some of the responses left me a bit peed off.
A sad day

Sad day for his friends and family. The media seem to be implying that it was work - related stuff that pushed him to take his life. I hope it wasn't, no sport is that important.

I take no interest in football at all but this is just so sad...
No bike at present.......

We were friends with his brother, our kids and theirs went to school together up in Notts. I met him a few times and he was a nice bloke.
