I am seeing some lag/delay when making a post. Anyone else?
-
Hi,
no issues here but on an older tablet?
-
OK here :thumb:
-
All's OK here.
-
No issues here. ( Posted last Thursday)

It seems to have sped up the last day or so here on android.
-
On PC, yes Fat Rat. The vertical script line is eratic. It gets better after a few words.
You mentioned some gobble-de-gook on my Photobucket posting yesterday.
The snail joke took some time (not meant to be funny here but it is!).
Now it's behaving properly. I think there's a little gremlin somewhere.
-
You do have a problem Fat Rat. The first few words on a post (it's just getting better now) are slow to arrive. It seems OK now at the end of the sentence.
Also the V-Strom avatar (because some are too lazy to put their own up) is opaque and not like the personalised ones.....like mine!
Each time I log in I have the same slow start get a post going. It's a glitch, if not a gremlin! The activity is restored if I move the screen up and down...........
-
Thanks, the dim avatars signify the user is offline.
The site is in the process of moving to a new host (the current one being taken over). I will give it until Tuesday, when they say the move will be complete before raising a call. :thumb:
-
I keep getting lag/delay now and then, but other times it's OK.
-
Weirdly, if anything my connection seems faster than normal.
-
As I write there is a delay before the letters appear and sometimes when I post I get a Suzuki V-Strom blue screen for about 20 seconds.
-
Test post, no problems running Chrome on Win10
-
I've never noticed this lag thing at all before, and was kind of wondering what the fuss was about... until earlier today when I posted, and for the first time, experienced quite a dramatic lag. Ended up composing my post offline and pasting the text into the 'posting' box. Fine now though.
Windows 7; Chrome.
-
I don't have a turbo.....................
OK I'll get my jacket :icon_wink:
-
This only appears to happen when using Chrome :icon_exclaim:
-
Yes Fat Rat, I use Chrome and the problem is still there. You'll have to find a fix............
-
It comes to something when I can type faster than the text appears. = still happening
-
Are you using Chrome Dave?
It looks like JavaScript issue (browser not site related). I wonder if Chrome has updated recently?
Can those experiencing the problem try another browser and post back here?
-
Yes I am using chrome
-
Can you fire up Edge or IE Dave and see if you still get the problem?
-
I am now switched to IE and it has no lag. It works a treat :lala:
So now what?
-
Erm, use IE? :smirk:
It would be good to see other members results but it does look like a script error.
-
Chrome here, on a Win10 pc and android phone . No issues with either
-
Thanks Rusty, I haven't seen the issue on android either.
Could you post the version of Chrome you are using, there is usually a build reference somewhere?
-
I'm on Chrome and I've got lagggg. I'll try IE
-
Now on IE and all's OK
-
Please post build version of your Chrome browsers :thumb:
-
Curiously another Biker site I use over here has a problem too, not the same, but has appeared in the last week or so. That might be nothing/coincidence.
A suspect could be Java script?
Where would I find the reference to latest Chrome version?
-
Is this it Fat Rat ? Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (32-bit)
-
Graham, where is that located please?
-
Chrome on Android works fine.
Chrome on Windows 7 with SP2 installed works fine.
Chrome on Windows 7 with latest updates lags to hell.
Anyone having issues with Apple or Linux?
-
Fire up chrome
go to chrome help (select the drop down menu from the three vertical dots under the X TOP RIGHT)
select About google chrome
this takes to a menu that will update the browser.
I've just done this and my pc is no longer lagging in chrome
Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (32-bit)
-
Mine is also Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit). It will be interesting to see the version of anyone NOT having the problem.
-
Thanks Brocket, found it (although all is in French for me!). :thumb:
I now have the same version, it updated straightaway. It's behaving better if a little hesitant though.
-
I'm using
version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit)
with Windows 10. I'll just click "Post" and see what happens :)
-
That's interesting .... it posted almost instantly, but as soon as I tried to open a "reply" window the site froze. Had to close the site and reopen, poke around a little, and only then finally able to reply .
-
Whereas this time, even including a "wildlife" picture, it posted almost instantly, and I can reply straightaway!
The wonders of technology, eh?
-
ooooh! hotbulb that a Panther. circa 1964 Pride and Clarke in Stockwell used to sell them with a double adult sidecar for £269. Big single one stroke every lamp post . Loves we do loves 'em.
-
Fat Rat, back on the pc now, Chrome version is:
Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit)
on Windows 10
-
For Mr Brockett .... and another tryout
-
And those posted instantly :lala:
-
Panthers, is it? Here y'go........
Cleckheaton's finest, lag-free an'all.
-
Show-offs!!
The problem is still there Fat Rat. It comes and goes, this post is playing up........then OK.
-
Until I can find out what is happening I am using Firefox.
-
yes, severe lag sometimes where I am unable to post! (just throwing this comment on so I can find the thread when I read it tomorrow).
-
No problems whatsoever with an iPad.
-
Chrome version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 7
Lagging like crazy, also happens on another forum, a phpBB one.
-
Hmm, it does look like a Windows/Chrome issue. I have been using Firefox for a couple of days and no issues at all. I used to use Firefox all the time, I can't remember why I stopped. I like it!
-
It's doing it again.
It was alright for a while after I updated chrome -
Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit) -
Windows 10 on PC
Not moaning just reporting for the sake of info.
-
Download Firefox Dave.
-
OK Guv'nor ...... Firefox is loaded and ....so far...... it does nooooooooooooooooooot lag.
Hmmm! must be a google thing.
-
Firefox is super fast at present. Could it be that it will collect oodles of data and slow down in a few days? Strange though it seems locked into a cycle of downloading umpteen versions. I have just deleted four and now another one is trying to get in. It's like the mop in "the Sorcerer's Apprentice".
-
Are you still on the case, Google Chrome Fat Rat? Plays up from time to time still.
V-Strom club is the only one mis-behaving.......
-
Still on the case but it isn't just this site, my research shows it is fairly widespread.
Install Firefox.
-
I'm back on Chrome and it's working well. :thumb:
-
I sometimes get lag when clicking on the show unread posts. It's a bit 50/50 whether it does it or not. I'm on Firefox on my android phone.
-
I am going to keep Firefox, I prefer It, I am now using it on my phone too :thumb:
-
Chrome is now playing up. :dl_smiley_banghead:
-
There are no issues on my iPad or my pc, Windows 7 with standard internet called ‘explorer’. Sorry you are all having difficulties but it was very nice to see the Panthers and the mention to Pride & Clark’s which was where my dad bought all his bikes. Happy memories.
-
The Panther outfit was sold by George Clarke's - this is from a 1965 copy of "Motor Cycle"
-
:thumb:
-
Test Post 1!
No issues on my Chromebook. I will check the main PC later.
-
I've always used Samsung's own browser on my S6 , never really notice any issues. Never use a pc.
-
I've been getting this for the last few days on the works computer with various sites.
At home I don't use the PC much anymore, but it's started doing it also.
A quick search come up with the a youtube video showing how to disable the Hardware Acceleration in Google Chrome.
All now sorted for me.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwHLrPQIEQQ
-
I've just given it a go and it is now working :thumb: Thanks Mr D
-
Removing the hardware acceleration option didn't fix my lag in Chrome.
-
No I've got the lag back so I'm back on the phone again.
-
Firefox is your friend (honest) :eusa-doh:
-
I've just downloaded Firefox and all is well. :thumb:
-
I've used Mr D's link and is has worked ...... so far.
But yes, no lag, cursor flickering all the time...........
If it doesn't hold up I'll be back........
-
It worked for me for a short while but then the lag returned so took FatRat's advice and downloaded Firefox and no lag. :thumb:
-
It was really slow on Chrome when I signed up a couple of days ago but it seems fine now.
-
As discussed here http://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=33922.0 Chrome have issued an update, it seems to have resolved the issue, can those experiencing lag, update Chrome and report back (it works for me)?
-
I installed the latest chrome update and the lag issue has gone. :thumb:
-
at 17:30 tonight I Updated to :
Version 65.0.3325.146 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I won't know if the lag has gone until I type some claptrap like normal. ................
Oh! yes seems to be alright now.
-
It's been 4 days and no problems.
Moreover the whole response and use on Chrome is totally changed, quick connections to other sites, instant page changes....really good! :thumb:
I have a friend who uses Linux and he says he's been off Chrome for a while.....until now and he's seen a real change too. :icon_wink:
-
I've just updated to Version 65.0.3325.146 (Official Build) (32-bit) and it's now working well.
-
just updated chrome and all seems to be fine now
-
Just updated Chrome and all now OK.
