Hi all! :text-imnewhere:
I’m happy to have become a member of your forum. I have heard that it is quite a well-functioning one so I’m really looking forward to learning more.
I’m presently riding a red DL650 V-sDREAM from 2006 (well actually it belonx to my wife I have to admit...!) but I’m usually more of a sportstourer bloke myself.
I have been riding Yamaha’s FZS1000 Fazer and FZ1-S in the past many years. The FZ1-S, unfortunately, was totaled last autumn, though.
But I have to say that I enjoy my wifey’s DL 6-fifty a lot too. It is one heck of a do-it-all-tool.
There’s not a lot you can’t do on it. Well, apart from racing the RR blokes between traffic lights I.e. …
But who cares?!
I am an enthusiastic member of a happy “gang” of quite gas-happy-though-pretty-mature and pretty-skilled “back road swingers” in the greater Copenhagen area and one of my best riding buddies from that gang is also part of this forum. Hi there, Sjyp!
It is good fun to participate in the gang’s quick Tuesday night outinx on our DL650s and as long as the route guide takes us out on twisting back roads with only a few short straight-aways it is good fun to follow pace on the DLs and put in distance between yourself and the RR bloke behind you in the tight twisties. We have seen quite a number of lifted eyebrows in the past.
Haha!
I have been riding motorcycles since 1984 and I reckon that I’m approaching ~ 250,000 kms on the back of a bike.
I’m an absolute (and quite nerdy…) bike travelling enthusiast and I go abroad to find the best possible biking roads whenever job & family calendars allow.
The favourite riding spot, of course, is the Alps. But my riding buddies and I have found lots and loads of nice biking stretches in many, many other places as well. And I bet that there are still many out there to be discovered.
As mentioned above I’ve always been a sportstourer bloke – but I have to admit that this adventure bike thing is growing on me. At present, though, I would surely fit street-carving Tyres on my bike. Maybe later I should look at doing some rough-roading/off-roading with knobbies as well, who knows?
Anyway, among the favourites for my next bike I find the DL1000.
It will be competing with the likes of Yamaha’s MT-09 Tracer, KTM’s Adventure models and maybe the NG Honda Africa Twin.
I do know that the King of the segment is the Beemer R12GS but every 2nd rider in the Alps is riding one so I won’t.
Happy carving!
