BMW forum?
« on: May 12, 2018, 11:07:45 »
Keep it under your lids but I'm seriously thinking of joining Traitor's Corner, on a BMW . But never fear, if I do my Glee won't be going anywhere any time soon  :thumb:

Anyway - I am looking for a helpful Beemer-focused forum along the lines of this one, where I can tap into the local expertise with some queries. Any recommendations as to which of the many to sign up to?   Preferably UK-based I suppose; and not model-specific as I'm not sure what I'm after yet (currently wondering about 1200RS or F800GT, but not any GS)

Thanks!

Don't know of any forums but I'm slowly taking a liking to one or two models on BMW's portfolio.

Try the official BMW Owners Club ( http://www.thebmwclub.org.uk/)
and
The BMW Riders Club ( http://www.bmridersclub.com/ )

Both have excellent forums with loads of useful info.
Having owned a F650, R1100RS and now have an R850R as well as the Wee, I'm a member of both but you don't have to be to use either forum. Just register.

UKGSer forum covers all BMW models. I seriously considered a GSA so did some research on there. Lots of info on there, so much so that it put me off the idea of owning one, but if you are hell bent on dipping your toe in the BMW pond then it is a good place to go. Fair warning though, some of the threads can become a little heated and the topic can be on any subject.  Oil (who doesn't love a good oil thread?), washing the bike, recalls (you really need a flak jacket for those), tyres, anything really. It's usually the fan boys vs the practical owners and there are keyboard warriors on both sides, so no-one gets the upper hand. Have a nosy round then meet you back here for some sensible, well moderated forum time where needless quotes are removed, the banter is genuinely light hearted and the only nonsense is the stuff I post...

+1 for ukgser for tech info on all BMW models, not just GSs. If you get one it is worth subscribing to get access to the classifieds. Been a member for 9 years!

Congratulations.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Lovely bike.  Jealous!  You get to keep the big twin cylinder motor without the over grown adventure bike styling.
