Here's the old Beer Rating Thread from a year or so ago.

Dunkle Fester is my latest favourite, but it appears to be a Halloween Special. My good lady emptied the shop for me so that I had a few.

I could crash my bike/car/heart tomorrow or my life could be trashed in some other way, so why not enjoy a beer as and when you can.

I think what you have to bear in mind is that scientist has probably been paid a lot of money for a long time to think up a way of presenting statistical data to prove his theory and show the result they or their backers want.
Anything to excess is going to cause health problems but, as already said above, a little of what you like isn't going to hurt you.
I like to try any ale in the 4 to 5% strength bracket and find some are great one day and not so good other days, giving me good reason to try something else.

Me too, especially Kasteel Rouge, Belgian or French but very nice when over there.

Just had a couple of pints of Devil's Backbone 5.2% in Tavistock.

Now home quaffing a bottle of Jennings Sneck Lifter 5.1%

I've turned into The Real Ale T-wats in Viz!!

Life is 100% fatal. No further statistics required.

We get very good raspberry beer in our local. I'd also recommend just about anything from the Osset, Saltaire and Leeds breweries. Saltaire Blonde is a favourite.

Andy, until I'm proven wrong, I'll assume that applies to other people. Not me.

I'd forgotten about Belgian beers! I'll search locally :thumb:

In the meantime, tonight I had 2x 500mls of 'Rudolph's Reward' by Shepherd Neame, mainly because it was down to 50p a bottle in local Lidl. :shy:
The label says: SEE: Auburn, Chestnut
                      SMELL:Hoppy Spicy, Fruit
                     TASTE: Spicy, Fruity, Refreshing

 :icon_exclaim:
Somehow sounds like a bad translation from chinese

Anyways, it was alreet. Back to Jennings next for me: it's been awhile :icon_wink:

PS Nice link to the  old discussion, Martin...maybe we could merge the 2 as a useful resource?!!

I even managed to concentrate on getting it right, despite drinking Piston Broke.

A couple of favourites for the summer. First up is a poncey, hipster craft beer.
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/beavertown-gamma-ray/189363/
It's a bit expensive but it's worth a go if only for the artwork on the tin. I cut 'em open, flatten 'em and pin 'em to the shed wall.

Second up is a draught beer from Salopian.

Had it in our cricket club last summer and it really does suit a session in the sunshine while the lads battle it out in the middle.

I have a bottle of Banks's Bitter in the freezer ready for serving with my dinner.

The colder the better for me.

I only drink German beer. The problem is I only drink it in Germany!
Seriously though, while I'm usually teetotal, if I go to Germany I drink the local brew but it's been a few years since I was there last. I haven't really found anything that I like in the UK - and trust me, I've tried. Even the German beers in bottles just don't taste quite right somehow. Any recommendations gratefully accepted.

Erdinger. A slice of lemon, Hannover style adds something in summer.

Also, as you aren't addicted to the stuff how about a Christmas market. Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham all have the real thing. It was Hoffbrau in Leeds last year, I was well happy. Even more so when the third litre was on top of pork knuckle, dumplings and struddel.

The diet started on January 2nd  :groan:

Not technically a review, but a picture and some words that I sent to my Brother a few weeks ago.

"Littlebro IPA. It's short, round, weak and cannot handle its alcohol once someone fiddles with its ring."
