Grip Puppies over Oxford Hot Grips
« on: February 25, 2019, 20:37:02 »
Has anyone fitted Grip Puppies over the top of Oxford Hot Grips?

I nearly have them on, but they are so tight. I've tried the soapy water on one side but I'm still having to pull the material so hard that I'm thinking it may split.

I tried rolling it on (condom style - snigger) and taking a Bar End off to give less to grip on.

Are the Oxford Grips a larger diameter than the standard grip?

Yes they are , plus, depending which ones Oxford make their grips grippy which would make it even more difficult.
I have grip puppies over my heated grips but they are OEM which are the same diameter as normal grips.

Oxfords are a little wider but they will go. I have done it a few times. It takes ages though! I started it off condom style and then it was a case of pulling on/stretchng from instrument end, followed by gripping from outside end and sliding tight hand towards the instrument end. Sore fingers by the end of it.

Done. Thanks for the helpful confirmations.

I had to pull them so hard the bike was rocking on its stand. I'm really impressed with the foam that it could take that much force without splitting.

As Kwackboy said, the Oxford grip give a really high friction coefficient to the Grip Puppies.

I have exactly the same setup. They were hard to put on, but not so hard as yours. In the beginning it was hard to get used to the extra thickness but after a while they are perfect. Also, they heat up longer.

My bike came with them on and I cut them off. Took an eternity to feel any heat coming from the heated grips and I got cramp in my hands (probably got small hands).

Yes, they're no problem at all.
