2014 DL1000 pannier options?

(1/3) > >>

AdvntureSi:
So.. I am hoping to get a couple of big trips away in this year.. I shall take tent etc, may end up a combination camping and BnB etc..
I have the std Suzuki "integrated" panniers on and find them a bit small on the inside really.. OK for day to day and commuting etc..
Looking at what might be available to replace them..
I don't want the big old square ally boxes that's the trend...
I have some giving monkeys of different flavours, but what actually fits?.
Seems the only givi rail kit available is the "quick release" system, which I am not bothered about as the panniers pretty much live on the bike, but may be the only frame kit...  Can pick up a set of used V series panniers or other monkey used for sensible price..
What givi/kappa are people running?
Shad any good??
Cheers
Pics?

Have a look at the DUSC panniers, https://sw-motech.us/products/luggage/side+cases/

$450 each.. plus mounting system.  I shall pass on those I am afraid..

Are you on your own or is the pillion seat spare?
If it's spare then what about using a decent sized waterproof roll bag on that for your camping gear? Along with your 'smaller' panniers, top box & maybe a tank bag?
Lomo even do crash bar bags if you have them fitted.

Sorry Neil, borrowed your bike.  :icon_wink:
My camping gear, on the V-Strom, is rolled in the groundsheet.

+1 for a dry bag on the pillion seat. Gives you a little backrest, frees up the top box mount for a box, and the bag rests on panniers if you have them fitted.

Also useful for just bunging inside your tent and sorting stuff out afterwards, especially useful if it's pishing it down.
