what length gives most satisfaction...?
« on: July 12, 2019, 08:46:46 »
Ooo Matron.
I've got some cash to drop on a carbon Delkevic but can't make up my mind which length to go for, either the 450 or the 320.
I've looked at other manufacturers but these blokes seem to be the best bang for buck.
So what do people think is better, given the following:
1) I like people to be aware I'm coming, so it has to be a head turner
2) However, It has to be OK with the neighbours, given I've got a copper living next door :)
3) I love deep burbling, popping and gurgling exhaust sounds--think closer to the low sounds of a merlin engine rather than the high pitched whine of a SJW.
Appreciate your thoughts :)

I'd say the longer length personally.  Still much smaller than the stock bazooka, but not too loud with the DB killer fitted.
Mine is about as loud as I'd want.  The shorter ones I don't believe are quite as quiet as they're not road legal normally from what I've seen.

I've always used the 350mm oval carbon. Just the right length to give pleasure and not pain .......

The longer the deeper. :thumb:

The DL1000 seems to give better dyno results with longer silencers, check out their videos and skip to the graph at the end.

Out of all the silencers they offer the 450's give the best improvement over the standard silencer.

I've got the 450mm Delkevic on my V-STROM and while I don't think it's that much louder than standard I think the note is much better. It also looks so much better than the standard  :topic_closed:monstrosity. Standard panniers also fit with it on.

 Tone, deeper tone. I thought I'd put tone after the deeper. :shy:

After advice on here I bought and fitted a Fuel F1R (the longer version) in carbon fibre and I have to say I couldn’t be more pleased. Lovely deep rumble with a few pops on deceleration. I haven’t tried with the baffle in yet as I’ve been enjoying the sound too much. So thanks for all who chipped in; you made me a happy man!

The longer cans look shite.
350mm is the way to go.
