Ding or Deliberate?
« on: October 18, 2011, 12:45:21 »
Whilst doing my pre-MOT checks at the weekend I discovered an indent in my exhaust pipe. At first I thought I'd done it  on the rocks while Stromtrekking but when it had cooled down enough for a a good feel around it appears to be smooth and regular in shape with no evident scrapes or scratches. Which started me thinking is it there by design...

Does anyone know? (Juvecu, you know 'everything'  :thumb: )

If not, can someone out there with a K7 or later check theirs and let me know?

The red arrow in the pic shows the pipe I'm talking about. If you reach under directly below the right footpeg the indent is on the bottom of the pipe.....

Ah well, just 'nearly everything'

I just took my camera out to the garage in my lunchbreak and got a photo of it from underneath.

Now I've actually 'seen' it the spot seems pretty well protected from below by the centre stand mount on one side and the pipe from the front cylinder on the other. Both of which hang lower and are unmarked, so I'm even less inclined to think its been done off-road.

I've got a vague idea someone posted a similar question for a Vee thinking the missing centre stand stop might have caused it......I'll try and find that again tonight.

Pretty sure that mine was the same.
I can’t go back, I won’t go back
I’d love to go back but I mustn’t do that

Thanks for confirming firestrom & oldie, :thumb:

It must be designed that way, actually the more I look at the second photo it looks like the clearance is needed to get the centre stand bolts in/out.

It's a shame as I'd started to convince myself it was damaged and I really needed a new exhaust rather than trying to justify spending £300-£500 for no reason other than 'it looks and sounds better'  :bawl:
