Hmm.. yes , I've just had a look and it appears my research maybe incorrect.

The sprocket number is correct but it may not be available in a 15 tooth.

You'd have to reduce the Size of the rear sprocket .
The number is JT 823, standard is 47 tooth and they make 39, 41, 45, 46, 47 &  49 .

45 would be a good shout but you'd have to check you've got enough spare adjustment to take up the slack .

There is no 15t sprocket listed for the DL250, GSX250R or inazuma models (all same engine) only a 14t one there are people trying to use thinner, thicker ones off different models

I was advised by the seller of my new bike that he would have changed the gearing had he kept it. I asked the question on this site and advised that it may not be a good idea. After now riding the bike in heavy traffic I am so glad of that advice, if I had made the top gear higher the first gear would have been far too high, if anything it is too high now. When moving very slowly through city traffic I'm using the clutch much more than I would like to.

My advice would be to ride in heavy traffic and imagine how that ride would be if you changed the gearing and if you still want to change it then contact one of the big name manufacturers and ask what they can do to help. They may have what you want on the shelf but you just can't find it.  :thumb:

My understanding is that for road use the rule of thumb for gearing is that the vehicle is just capable of reaching its maximum engine RPM (or the RPM at which it produces the maximum BHP) in the next gear below the highest gear.
This leaves top gear as an 'overdrive' which though too high to achieve maximum theoretically speed [other than downhill lay on the tank with the wind behind you :auto-dirtbike:] is more suitable for relaxed cruising and economy.
I think the term 'overdrive' originally simply meant any gearing that was higher than 1:1.

the DL250A in standard form will easily make the 10,500rpm in 6th and its top speed is on the rev limiter I can see why lots of people are looking to change it. 1st it very low also in my opinion
