Your breakfast/lunch did look very nice Mick, especially the black pudding, one of my favourites.
BTW it wasn’t a BMW club run, it was our regular Wednesday “Old But Not Dead Club” run.Sadly the BMW Club is going the way of all bike clubs I am afraid and losing members every year. When I joined it had about 350 members and we (The Mercia Section) are now down to 95 members.I think the internet is taking over the social gathering scene in general all over the UK.Sad really.

Looking for paddock stand bungs I popped into Speedstyle at Squires Cafe. Covered in dust and missing the mounting bolts, the sales bloke didn't have the heart to charge me anything for these bungs  :lala:
The bolts I found in the garage were a wee bit long (a GOOD thing), so I extended the bungs by adding a nut between bung and swingarm.
But best of all, they match the blue rims! (Even though the packet did say 'BMW Blue')
Now more agonising over pannier rails - anyone have anything to say about Cosmo's ones?

Gassoon has some pics of his Cosmo Rails fitted. Not a huge amount of clearance between can to rail, so I can understand it banging on rough roads fully loaded with a pillion. Good point.

Rode it home from our caravan in Ashford.

I was undecided whether to ride it or not or bring the trailer next week  as I am waiting for a prostrate operation and I have a catheter fitted and I tried to ride the KTM the other day but it was not comfortable at all. But sat on the v-Strom and it felt OK so rode it home with no problems at all  :thumb:
I gave it a wash then Rode it to work to keep it in the warehouse for the winter as I am running out of room in my garage.

Busy day yesterday, had to change the clutch plates, so obviously that came with changing the oil and the coolant too. Also changed the air filter while I was at it

MrNorbH, how many miles has your bike done? My clutch plates are original, 17 years old and covered nearly 30k. My clutch feels fine to me… just wondering what you felt that made you change them?

Thanks  :)

Had a little run out today to get the tank close to empty so I could fill up with 'super' just in case it doesn't get run for a month or two over winter. If it does go out I'll top up with the same.
Put Esso Synergy Supreme in it (how much!!! ..... 158.9 a litre seeing as you asked).
Although I was surprised to see that, within a mile of the petrol station, I was seeing the display showing 70.5mpg. I had E10 in it before & on the miles before filling up today I was seeing 60.6 at best. I had a play after filling up & the worst mpg I could get was @ around 6k rpm in 6th gear for about a mile on a dual carriageway & that was showing 65mpg.
I was surprised to see that much difference. I thought it was running smoother & better too.
Sadly no breakfast today, as a poor pensioner I can't afford petrol & food!  :old:

If you investigate you might find that 'super fuels' give about 4% more mileage , a generality. If I'd spent £1.58 for a litre I'd expect it to perform (even if it didn't).
So how's it going so far then?

Hiya!

The current mileage is 54541, I use the bike mostly in London, lot of filtering and slow riding. Probably could've done a couple thousand miles more, but I like to play it safe 😄

Thank you MrNorbH, I was hoping your mileage was a little higher to warrant new clutch plates. I’m doing loads of preventive service work and my clutch wasn’t on my list… sounds like I’m OK for a while yet. Good luck with the work, sounds like an interesting mission  :)

Re the clutch posts, I've got 46k on mine and it seems to be fine. Had to adjust the cable a couple of times but other than that ........

On the clutch point it must be due to lots of 'slipping' due to stops, starts, filtering and general slow progress. I would expect that for a bike's life in London.  :)
So how's it going so far then?

Rode up from Kent to FWR Tyres in Kennington to have my slow leaking rear tyre sorted.

Before today only done about 175 miles on new PR5. It was losing about 3 to 4 psi a day/overnight.

Rim cleaned and new valve fitted. Hope that's it sorted.
