Radiator Guard
« on: September 12, 2019, 14:32:27 »
Hello all,

Just a quick question. I’ve just recently acquired my Strom 1k and love it to bits... I’ve noticed the standard mudguard looks like it’s been extended, with the radiator being tucked away up high, is it worth fitting a rad guard?

I appreciate your thoughts and experiences.  :thumb:

Yes! For a few quid it could save you a lot of money IF the radiator was damaged.  :thumb:

Yes I have one on mine, a good buy.  Mine is a Boewulf if I remember, not a great fit, just clips over the top with one bolt at the bottom, if I was buying again I'd get another make, R&G maybe, have a look on ebay.
Ps. I also put a wee mud flap on bottom of the mud guard, engine stays clean now even on very wet rides.

Could you expand a bit on the mudguard addition you mentoned, please. Perhaps a picture(?)  Was it a bespoke bit of kit you bought?

Thanks chaps, appreciate your advice. Like you say - it's not a lot of outlay vs buying a new rad.

@ MrBear I put one of these on, as have others on here. Other types are available as well. A search on here may produce some more information.

I make my own for all my bikes ..I buy the mesh you get for car grills from ebay in various sizes I go for the 5mm diamond pattern..I cut it to size with tin snips and use rubber edging all round the outside edges and tie wrap them on.. you can normally get two to three Rad Guards from one sheet
