I use the susuki 'sport' screen with a cheap deflector/spolier I picked up of ebay for cheap. Also took off the standard mirrors in favour of some smaller bar end mirrors. no more buffeting or wind noise. looks pretty good to!
Never tried the standard screen as when I bough the bike, it didn't have one (2nd hand) . it did come with a massive givi screen which was terrible. kept the elements off, but double vision and headaches where an every ride occurance!
oh, its a 2008 650. I'm 6ft give or take. use a caberg duke.
keeping it sunny side up for......shit, can't remember.

Picked up my new Strom yesterday and very happy I am too, the first thing I did after returning from riding it for the first time was remove the screen, in fact the dealer I purchased it from allowed me to do this on the demo model, much nicer ride without the screen, looks good to.
I've just purchased a OEM screen from eBay, I shall cut it down in stages and report back once its been reduced to the point of no turbulence.
But for now I'm with Rustynuts, the best position for the screen is on a shelf in the shed.

Looks good, like the blue. Next thing to join that screen on the shelf should be the ugly exhaust can!
Ps the smaller MRA screen looks good and works OK too.

Couldn't agree more regarding the silencer, I'll replace it, I'm currently looking for something that will not be to loud.

Bikehps are UK agents. They also sell screens, if you want one.

Palmer products also make a similar style bracket.  They list it as for a 650 pre 2011.  But (and someone please correct me) I believe the 650 and 1000 of that vintage had the same screen mounts.

Palmers version is less expensive, but has nothing like the amount of variation or adjustment as the Madstad.

I think this is a very subjective argument, with so many variables, that there isn’t probably one answer to suit everyone. It depends on expectations and one rider’s idea of excessive buffeting will be entirely different from another’s.
I am Mr Average, (5’10”, 11.5 st), and my 2015 Glee came with the Suzuki accessory ‘touring’ screen with the extra spoiler near the top.
I raised it up to the higher position by accident, when I removed it to clean behind it and put it back higher!
But from new I’ve never noticed any extreme buffeting or excessive wind noise from this set up, based on my idea of what is acceptable.

So my stock (second hand) screen has arrived and I've been busy with the Jigsaw. I've cut it down to an overall height of 200mm, and mounted it to the standard Suzuki brackets. This is a huge improvement over the standard length screen (I'm 6'1"), however there is still some turbulence and its not as quiet as when the screen is removed completely.
The next step was to raise the front of the screen by 20mm see image 135939 again a great improvement, it has moved the bulk of the wind blast to chin level, I'v ordered the tall seat which should be with me Tuesday of next week, the extra 35mm of seat height could be enough to raise my head into clean air, I'm not going to play with the screen any further until that arrives, will keep you posted.

Haha, it was an itch that required scratching about two years ago, I wasn't intending to keep it long, but it just keeps itching and I love scratching it. Its standard other that a stage one exhaust and a map to suite...

Same thing but with an owner who doesn't want to identify as a Vauxhall. The later 4 door models were sold as Vauxhall VXR8's.

We have two DL1000`s one with stock screen, one with a Puig taller one.

No problems with either and both screens have been on one of the bikes that has a lowered seat.  One rider 6`2" the other 5`9"
