Right on. Some are expensive for little gain in power at the expense of tractability.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Hi &  :welcome:

If you asked for sensible upgrades I'd suggest a mudguard extender and some crash bars as first priority.

Hi Buddy and welcome to the forum the Contributors know their stuff and always answer in a non patronising way!

I think we may have a mutual friend Michael? Or warm hands as I will now call him. He is too polite to tell me but what is the 8 seconds story?

Regards and hopefully get a chance for a ride out sometime?

Pat

HI &  :welcome2:

+1 for extenda & crashbars as sensible upgrades.

As for power I'd suggest just ride the Wee2 for a while and get used to it, then decide.

Like Greywolf said you can spend a lot of money for not much return  :auto-nx: , and if that's what you really want then maybe better putting the money towards a different bike.........

Who knows, by then the Vee2 may be available

Only "power" upgrade I know of is to go on a diet....

A disgrace to biking...

The first upgrade I'd make is:
If the new Wee's are still fitted with Trailwing tyres I'd take them off ( stick them on ebay) & fit decent tyres ie. any other tyres!
Better than any power upgrades!!!

Welcome :welcome2:

Think I'd agree with the others on bars and extender. more power so soon?  What have you ridden before?

Mine's fitted with a Devil exhaust by previous owner, but principally to just smooooth out power delivery and weighs a lot less than stock.  Think diet is definately the right answer for me  :violin:

ha ha thanks to all for the advice. Just completed 700 miles in two weeks on it and put it in for it's first service. Absolutely fantastic bit of kit and...............doesn't need any more power!!!!   Totally agree with looking a few kilo's so I will park it 20 metres from the house and walk the rest of the way! I will get a photo of it "fully loaded" shortly. I see what you mean about the mudguard extension though !!  I coated the whole thing in ACF 50 from day one so pretty easy to clean and the pyramid hugger is brilliant....next stop...Morocco!!

Pat...hello , yes we do have a mutual friend in "warm hands" and you would have to get me very drunk to tell you about the" 8 seconds" debacle, I was told it was a record for the east midlands/Anglia area!!!! Did he tell you the dealership lent me a new GSXR 750 for the day when my bike went in for servicing last week. I did 257 miles on it in a ride to west London and back ( a ride I did the previous week on my V Strom). It was like sitting on an exocet missile, but alas by the time I got back, my wrists and back were aching like mad...happy to get back on my bike.  Let" warm hands" know when we can all meet for a ride out.  cheers

tomorrow if I could, the intention was to get lots of "touring" mileage done by bike....and the V Strom is the machine for the job. "warm hands" (see earlier)...is a good mate and biking buddy (though not a V Strom convert yet)...we get the wives together, kids together.....then we hit the road. We started off by looking at Sparta in Greece.....until we realised it would take us 5 days just to get there. An overnight crossing to Bilbao, sprint through Spain then ferry across to North Africa seems much more achievable...has anyone done that?? Time away from the "boss", kids and business seems the most difficult negotiation at present....but we will get there!!!!!!...note to self...help with the washing up tonight!
