I see the same sub frame and rear footrests as my bike, at least  there's now plastic side panels over the sub frame to keep the road crap off. And a split seat so riders section might  be adjustable.
Also looks like the same front forks, wheels, brakes etc though there fairly good.
More worryingly I see the same flat header pipe below the engine like on mine, can't  see a big hp jump with this, we'll see.
Don't think I'm in the market for one, think I'll ride mine a year or two yet then look for something smaller as the new one looks bulkier than mine.

Further proof there that the V-Strom was discontinued after 2011.

Looks like badged a 1050 (but isn't the current 1000 actually 1037ccs?). Cruise control.

Suzuki are live-streaming from tomorrow morning (Tues 5th Nov)  here

for anyone interested enough

Why not just join up with stromtroopers, see the pics? It's a decent enough forum! :thumb:

To my addmitedly highly one-trained eye, it appears that they, the designers, are trying to make it look like a DR Big via panel and paint schemes.

And what's with the need for more power! My '14 plated 1k Strom has a little over 100bhp and that's is more than enough for any road use and a little bit too much for the rough stuff (with my limited skill set at the controls). You want more, get a GSXR and go play on a track and see how much of the throttle you actually use.

Given its weight (and mine these days) I could use a little more.

And I thought the one I have was ugly!!!
Could maybe live with the grey but not the yellow.  Still got the big ear mirrors, Suzuki sure like to get their money's worth outa a design.

Naaaahhhh, not for me. Too ugly for my taste. I'll hold on my 2017 '18 model DL1000 until 2026 until this generation wares out or say goodbye and change to other brand.
Besides thoughts that DL1000 was ugly, I liked it and had last 2 models (after DL650). But this time it's just too much.
Wind protection on the sides is all gone. Since first model to this one, you can see side wind protection getting smaller and smaller. And now it's gone. I'm tired of making my own protections. This is road bike, not capable of off-roading 100%, we all know that. So it needs wind protection.
And that square headlight... I better not comment on that one...

The strom is not a pretty bike. It never has been. For me it depends on the price and the full specs. Bet the MSRP is 12K+. I'd want a LOT for that money. VVT, more power not just plastics, lights and a screen. I may go for a new old stock L9 - bet these will be on heavy discount.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

A grand off all vstrom's from yesterday till end of January 20.
One plus point I see is crashbars, main stand, exhaust end can and suspension look the same( on the grey two up bike) so money saved there if you transfer it all over.
Ps that new seat still looks thin!

I like it, so they have one potential sale  The press conference was a hoot. Waku Waku, great idea if perhaps it did lose a little in translation. Their English is way better than my Japanese, so no complaints.

Decent size front mudguard - never did understand the trend to make them as small as possible so you can throw crap on your engine and stones into the radiators/oil coolers (Ducati are you reading this?)
No rear hugger by the look of it - Shame
The "clocks" look good. Clear and well laid out without going full colour and overboard on the display, just because they could.
They kept the "did you know it's cold?" indicator. Always makes me giggle, normally I know it is cold, but I thank the light for telling me, just in case I missed it.
Not sure about the colour schemes, but that is always a matter of personal choice. Need to see them in person to really know.
No mention of the headlight which I'm assuming is LED.
Indicators look to be standard bulbs on the V-Strom and Leds on the XT version
Cornering and weight-sensitive ABS (!).
Cruise on the XT model and hill start which I guess will be a by-product of the revised ABS. Add in a few ones and zeros and, boom, hill start.
No mention if the XT wheels were tubed or tubeless, although looking at the photos again, they look to be tubeless

All of that said, comes down to two questions, How much and what does it ride like?
