When to start looking for new Strom?
« on: April 15, 2018, 11:45:17 »
My late 2005 Wee now has 33k on from new, I use her every day for commuting and rideouts and alittle touring, my bike friends all ask when am I looking to buy a new bike! I love my Wee, the engine still feels strong and has never given me any bother, but I'm not sure to keep using her until she goes wrong, or trade in for a new/newer Wee!?

 Ideas please?

 Cheers

 Neill

It's not even run in yet, plus it's the classic shape. Keep it!

Hell my 08 Wee is only just getting it's second wind at 44,000 miles. Also they would laugh at you if you tried to trade it in. ALSO it's easy to fix if something does eventually go wrong. Get the bugger round the clock ma mate.

Plenty of life left in the old girl, my 06 has 17k on it and I'm hoping to put a lot more no it. Keep on keeping on. :thumb:

31k on my 11 plate. 24k of those done since I bought it two years ago. You'd get less for it as a trade in than you'll get out if it if you keep it.

There's plenty life left in your bike, mine's a 2007 and it's got 38,000 on it. It's used daily in winter and summer and as long as it gets regular maintenance I don't expect any problems.

Looked at three new stroms yesterday side by side 250, 650 and 1000 - didn't like any of them from a quality perspective - keep your wee  or buy a glee to keep it company :thumb:

Keep it. That is no mileage. As said before, its used value is peanuts compared to the cost of a new bike. All the money you will save can be spent on holidays and beer.  :obscene-drinkingchug:
How many of your mates actually own their spangly new bikes?
People are getting hooked into the PCP way of hiring a bike/car. That is what it is in reality. They don’t own it. It is a way for people who can’t be arsed to save up can have a new motor in their garage, and once on the merry-go-round it is hard to get off. It is another example of the modern ‘must have it now’ mentality, and another way to get people further into debt. Much more sensible to be master of your own destiny I reckon, but then I am an old fashioned git.

I have a later model but the gods on here have so much wisdom.

They're more or less all the same bike, just in a different wrapper. Low mileage original format as good as the latest..... (no beak or spokes)...keep it, you'd be underwhelmed with a newer one.  :thumb:
So how's it going so far then?
