E Bay Seat Cushions
« on: April 04, 2025, 13:27:41 »
Hi,
does anyone have any experience of the cheap Rubber honeycomb type seat cushions available from the likes of E bay. At only around £15, I wouldn't expect Airhawk levels of comfort, but wondered if they are at least an improvement for long distances and worth a go.

cheers.

I've got one.  It's blue so I disguised it in a black bag and then tucked it under one of those cheap mesh seat covers to secure it (ish).  It definitely adds some squish. How much will be determined on my first 2025 foray into Europe in May.  For the price I'm not expecting miracles but it does seem to be an improvement on the short rides I've made so far.

I've got one of these going cheap if you think it'd work.
I didn't like using it, not only did it make me sit too high for my short legs but I found I moved a bit on the seat. It was comfortable though & the good lady used hers a lot but not required now we've had the seat modified.

This isn't the Oxford & I didn't pay that much for it either but for £15 inc P&P it's a bargain.  :icon_wink:
You just blow a little bit (you don't need a lot) of air into the valve.  :thumb:

Thanks for the replies. Think the moving around on the seat might be a bit off putting, I'll stick with the stock seat.

Cheers.

Just back from a 7 day France/Germany outing.  Somone on another thread put me onto the "Sit 'n Fly" seat cover (if that was you - thanks!!).  It was about £35 so around halfway between the ebay one it replaced and the Cool Covers/Wind Riders ones.  Honestly it's excellent - really made all the difference and massively extended the distance my arse would permit me to stay in the saddle.  Recommend!
