Tank bag on 2014 onwards 1000
« on: July 04, 2024, 10:26:44 »
Does anyone have a picture of a 1000 with a tank cover fitted?  Lots of images online of the covers but none actually on the bike, I’m wanting to see how it fits with the plastics.

This is to hide an unfortunate incident in the garage where a scaffold pole fell against the tank. I don’t think tank pads will do it and nobody seems to want to touch tanks for paintwork

Scottie, unfortunate that the dent is where it is so hard to cover with a pad but I found this on eBay that may do the job?

Failing that, if you touch up the paint I'm sure that you will be the only person who notices it unless you come to sell the bike. I know that knowing that the small dent is there will play on your mind and your anxiety will be amplified every time you see it but give it a month or so and you probably won't even think about it.

There are people who will spray a tank though if you keep looking, google is your friend and it cost's about £160 for a cover, I don't think it would cost much more to paint the tank if you shop around. My advice, touch it up and go for a ride, it's just patina or a battle scar to brag about.   :thumb:

Cheers bud,

Yeah I’ve looked at those pads, the chip is right on the seam so I don’t think it will cover it.

I know it’s going to annoy me if I can see it, but due to the fact that very little of the tank is actually on show of the tank cover fit under the plastics I’d consider it.
