My rear a40 at 6020 miles. My front has only done 3k so looks like another rear for me even though I'm not a great fan. 98 quid here for a rear where as a pr4 is135.
Ps. Tyre fitter told me all Michelin's going up 14% real soon so if you want some get in soon!

Its that sguare it stands up on its own. Lasted the same  mileage as the oe Bridgestone, still it does lug nearly 30 stone about most weekends.
Watched the fitter fit the new one and now know why they feel harsh on bumps, stiff sidewalls to say the least!  He needed to use a roller on the tyre as the machine was struggling!

Its half a mm of the wear bars and the little side spies are all but gone. Bike is handling like a tesco shoppin trolley with a wonky wheel.

I was there when they fitted mine, two blokes with long tyre levers lifting one side of the tyre machine off the ground as it couldn't manage it itself.

As soon as I rode it, I knew why!
Great tyres otherwise though.

I thought the michilen annkee 3's I had on my tiger looked hard to fit but there a spoons job compared to these! Well as the fitter said "at least you know they won't come off the rim"

An old post but thought I would report in with an update on my A40's.

Clock just turned 15k and I just replaced the rear A40. Grand total of 9,123 miles on the rear before replacement. Happy with that.

Great mileage. I got 6000 outa my first a40 rear and 5500 from the second one. 8500 from a front. Trying pr4's now

Would be interested on your thoughts on how the A40 compares to PR4 for ride & grip - especially in the wet

What's the wisdom on tyre pressures for the 650? I'm currently using 38/42
6,500 miles on Roadtec 01's, looks like I'll need a new rear fairly soon though.

Hi chippy. I'm not a good person to ask really I was never a fan of the a40's to be honest but I like to get my money outa things so I'd never change them till there done. The pr4's grip better wet or dry ( much better in the wet), steer better and have a smoother ride. My biggest fault with the a40's was the stiff side walls and harsh ride. Others will disagree but I'll not buy them again
