Title: fork oil weight
Post by: roppa157 on January 04, 2013, 16:17:49
Hi All
Picking my 650 strom explorer next friday registered 2010. In good condition with full  Suzuki service history, but it has 18000 miles on it. I am going to change the fork oil and I am wondering what weight oil people use for two up touring. I am assuming they have not been revalved, but the rear shock has been uprated to a Hagon. I am going to have too check the spring rating on the rear. I wish he had put a Nitron or Ohlins on. Two of us total 150kg plus luggage.
Thanks

Fit some  Hagon springs and 10w oil , it made a great difference to mine.

15 fork oil works for me. Much less front end dive and keeping more weight to the rear when solo - stops the back skipping under heavy braking.

Thanks for your advice, now awaiting "my get up and go" to come back and will start a strip down and clean and assess wear on the bushes.

Changed my springs to Hagon & fitted 7.5 wt oil (as recommended by Hagon). Seems fine to me but will probably use 10 wt next time I change it. Think it can go up slightly & it saves having to buy 10wt & 5wt and then mix them!
