Zarges box as top box.
« on: April 29, 2016, 22:51:40 »
I have used one of these boxes as a top box, it is big, 60l, I will use it for clothing on a trip, to keep the weight down, and throw over panels for the heavier items.
it looks bloody massive, but after some test riding in today's blustery winds I will persevere, it was noticeable in a side wind, but nothing alarming.

I did reinforce the base, and fabricate secure mountings that I can undo in a matter of a minute or two, and added some cleats and elastic rope to the lid, not that I plan to mount much there!

Anyway I thought I would share a pic for ridicule, and testing is ongoing as I have a smaller one if it proves too much. :)

it looks like it could have its own moon, was it once a cold war fallout shelter , when you say use it for just cloths do you work as a delivery driver for tk max , you could mount a scooter to the back of it or maybe 10 or 15  20ltr jerry cans, if you cut the bottom of it off and put in a few windows you could use it on the pick-up in the backround and turn it into a camper , forget dominos you could fit a complete stone oven in there with 3 small italian chefs  ,     only joking bro at least you are handy on the back wheel which will help , are those pr4's you have the GT version cause you may need that extra strength , I wouldn't bother with stickers only the ones legally required for a rigid body truck , at least the price of scrap aluminum is up so surely there's a couple of grands worth there  , I'm so sorry man but I couldn't resist  :thumb:

Its like a reverse of the tardis, a credit to these bikes that it is stable, my mission is to get some wheely scrapes on it for posterity, but I'm not sure I will be able to get the front end back down again, maybe some spring loaded tesco trolley wheels will help, rim taped for dignity....

Tomorrow is the big day for testing, Ikea is the destination, I should be a cut above the BMW boys as I burble past Costa, with some of the finest  pine furniture making the subframe creak and groan... :happydance:

Are you fitting a tow bar so you can tow your wood chipper? Then you'll be able to blow the chips into the chasm that is your top box.

Seriously, I like it.

Holmsey will be able to let you know if you need an escort vehicle or not and a sign on the front saying CONVOI EXCEPTIONNEL. This link might help.http://www.boat-shift.com/transport-information-guidance-for-uk-europe.html.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Well I might have to look into adding a couple of teeth to the rear sprocket, but it's  a novel ploy... lol

With the blue trimmings I thought that was Ikea.

just 1 more please ( sorry ) but you'd want to be careful on your way back from France with all the jumpers , it can cost up to £20,000 in fines if you're caught carrying roughly 15 people and I'm sure at a squeeze You'd fit at least 25 ,

In response I have now fitted four padlocks as a security measure, it's not to be a smuglerstrom....
