Bad to the bone, or just bad? When Harley met silly...
« on: August 01, 2018, 06:46:45 »
Harley Davidson, late to the party and making a half arsed job, decided they needed a slice of the new adventure market as they realised that they were losing sales to, well, everyone. This is the mooted prototype of a proposed 2020 adventure model. This was posted on the super tenere forum, which is largely US based.

Beautifully crafted angular collector box. Takes attention off the 1980's Pantera / Rickman headlight cowl.

The MoCo knows the days of large ohv air cooled v twins are numbered. They clearly don't know what to do next after 100+ years of "potato, potato."
I would suggest neither of the above are it.

I don't think we can concern ourselves about looks just yet - what you see here will be after you've bought £50,000 of screamin' eagle tat to dress it up. Nice original name: Pan American. I can't think of anything they may have taken some inspiration from...

A couple of handlebar tassels and some black leather saddle bags would soon make it look great

I really think you should give Harley a modicum of credit here chaps. They have seen where the market is going and listened to their customers which I personally think is commendable.

I speak to quite a number of land drainage contractors, every single one of them craves an off road ditchpump with a letter box instead of headlamp.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I'd still have one over a beaky bike!

to be honest I've been looking at bikes and they are all too electrically complex for my liking... a Harley on the other hand is one step out of the stone age  :thumb:

And this technically wouldn't be Harleys first adventure bike.
Their one time off shoot Buell one did the Ulyssis.
More or less a big flop with a 1200cc Sportster derived lump.

Mr Diver, I'm in agreement, I like the fact that the Tiger I have does not have ABS or any other electronic aids  to riding.. My friend has just bought a 10 month old GS1200 and is so pleased with all the gadgets... its special dash, built in satnav, special brake for hill starts so you cannot roll back ,, suspension balancing so you can brake in corners, electronic suspension changes for various loads etc etc etc ..  not for me !!! I want to ride my bike not be a virtual passenger... I think it carries a valet who pops up on request and wipes your visor !!

Bet it gets covered in leather bags with braid and tassels, lots of chrome and high bars. Not forgetting a siren and some Screaming Eagle exhausts.....

You need help.

But yes Tusker all the new bikes are designed to take all the feel of what's going on away from the rider.
Thus breeding riders that have no clue how to actually ride and bin the bike the first time the bike can't auto adjust enough for the riders lack of feel/ability/judgement.

My bikes all have ABS, traction control, stability control, slipper clutch - All controlled by the most powerful computer out there = THE HUMAN BRAIN.

I'd pull all the fuses if I was forced to have a bike with all the aids
