Deauville 650
« on: April 05, 2018, 21:21:07 »
Well not quite the traitor as it may seem, but following the theft of my Strom and the need to get going again while I wait for my insurance to cough up I got myself a deauville to fill the gap.

...and you know what it's not half bad. Comfortable, quick enough if spanked, practical as a commuter, and handling that  is somewhat  'interesting'.  Old man image I know, but it does the job.

Might even prove to be a keeper

I look quick therefore I am.

Same motor as the Transalp I did loads of miles on, but with the advantage of a shaft. If they had done a Tranny with a shaft it would have been a huge success. Deauvilles are a Gunnell bike.....not so great to look at but they go well.

One of the blokes in work has an old NTV650 with 130,000 miles on it.
He's just trading up to a red 650 deauville.

I had a 700 for a few months. Was a capable bike, good for touring and commuting.
I liked it alot, but I couldn't justify 2 bikes that were so similar. The Strom stayed and the Deauville went.

I had a 700 for about a year until I sadly destroyed it on an extended tour of foreign parts. Traded it in at Fowlers for my Wee for bugger all. Liked the bike but I just felt so old when ever I went to get on it that I ended up riding it like a lunatic just to prove a point.....to anyone watching....who no doubt didn't care. What the hell am I doing awake at this hour....just can't sleep...going to have some crunchy nuts and go back to bed....Aldi crunchy nuts are lovely by the way and much cheaper then the posh ones. Yawn.
