SMC (Sheffield)
« on: June 08, 2017, 18:50:54 »
Had a phone call today from SMC. They say they are suddenly no longer a Suzuki dealer. I have already booked a service and recall update, which they can no longer honour. OK, but I bought a service plan upfront !!!!! Watch this space.

All refernce to Suzuki seems to have vanished from their website .... except a few rather large photos!

Interesting! Via moto have opened up a new place on Shoreham st and they're a Suzuki dealer, I was wondering how that would work with SMC so close. SMC have been gearing more towards KTM and Ducati recently so it's not a surprise, but I hope you get your service plan honoured or refunded!

I had noticed via Moto pop up. I had my recall some at SMC less than a week ago.

Coincidentally about 10 mins before I read this post I left a comment on their Facebook page asking if they will be doing servicing, as their website says coming soon but doesn't specify if that's just Aprilia,  Vespa, Moto Guzzi

Wish I'd have known, it's walking distance from work. I had to sit around smc for 2 hours.

I think they only just opened the new store. Annoyingly I could walk to SMC but via moto is the other side of town.

I just paid a visit to via moto to book it in for the stator recall and already they have wound me up. I asked how much for the annual service as you would be already be changing the oil. The answer was nearly  £300 and about 3 hours work.  The bike is a year old with just over 4000 miles. So I asked why you charge me for the  oil when you supposedly change it when replacing stator. That's what Suzuki  charge. I will take it to independent dealer. He said Suzuki won't Honour warranty. But I said they will if they are a registered dealer  and vat registered. He said your choice. So already an unsatisfied customer.

I think you are fine with warranty and Suzuki unless they have changed their policy. Not so much with Triumph, KTM and BMW.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

650xtPete, £300 that sounds a lot of money. ### I had mine serviced in Newtown at the Suzuki dealers while they were doing the stator recall, the service took 1.5hours £75, total bill £114.61, that included changing the brake fluid, paid for oil filter. (no oil as included in recall) Find another dealer.

Service carried out OK. But no trace of the recall notice from DVLA the saga unfolds
