Pine-ing for a centre-stand.? Wood you trust it..?
« on: June 09, 2018, 13:46:24 »
Because I keep baulking at the price of a centre stand.. I’ve ‘modded’ my ‘bit of wood’ alternative.
It’s enough to support the bike while oiling the chain etc (and at a push I’d guess, to remove the wheel.. then chock properly).
If I can be bothered I may source a piece of box-section steel and make a proper ‘professional’ one, though, along with the oil bottle and ‘toothbrush applicator’, this one has seen action across Europe without issue.
And no, I’m not from Yorkshire  :thumb:

Seems a neat solution to me: when oiling a chain the worst that can happen is surely that the bike could drop back on it's wheel/sidestand support.  Not sure I'd trust it with a wheel off!

What ever works for you  :thumb: seems to be an OK solution if you don't have a centre stand .
I think I would prefer a metal version though.

If I didn't have one I think I'd be inclined to buy one. Probably cost more to sort the damage if it falls over and if it falls on top of you it could hurt! I've got an ABBA  stand that I've used for various bikes but not the V-Strom. Haven't looked into whether it would work on the V-Strom. Paddock stand maybe? Nothing beats the day to day convenience of a centre stand.

Knot the replies I’d hoped for.
Deciduous-ly predictable
Not tree-mendously helpfully.
Wish you people would leaf it out
Though if it topples I guess I can legitimately call ‘timber’.

Fair point BM, we should stop larching about seeing as we are Alder enough to know better. No point beeching about it though.

I think it works but it looks a little bit rough. It needs sprucing up a bit.
