Charlie Boorman is doing a trek across the states. Every Thursday evening, 8pm on Channel 5. Started last week in Hawii, playing with lava.

Oh, and he killed a BMW riding it through a shallow river... :haha:

(I know, not really bike related, but...)

Boorman and that wally Henry Cole (currently on a TV near you on the "travel channel") are 2 of a kind - I always start watching their programmes with eager anticipation but after 10 minutes the combination of smug ignorance and posing together with envy that they're getting paid for this rubbish forces me to switch off......

Starting next Wednesday (04/12) on Discovery at 9pm there's a new show called 'Philly Throttle'. About vintage bike restorers/builders. Starts with a 1967 Norton Atlas.

Hopefully it will be a decent show about bikes, but being the discovery channel, there's always the risk that they're just trying to find themselves a new American Chopper...

WTF??? Am watching Charlie Boorman's USA Adventure and he's just said he wants to recreate a scene from a film his father made called... Deliverance!!!!    I don't think I want to watch the rest! If he starts squealing...  :-x

I'm quite enjoying that USA adventure programme. There's not much motorcycling in it but he is doing some interesting things.

Fortunately he didn't recreate THAT scene!

It is good although he tends to make things sound a lot more dramatic than they need to be. Also been watching Henry Cole's program - his droll makes it hard to stay awake...

Heh! I'd assumed it was about bikes - but not that sort!  Enjoyed it though...(And he really fancied that Laura Trott, didn't he!)

Next weeks effort on a 'proper' bike (and a Suzuki, to boot) to ride it across a lake looks like an engineering challenge alright!

All credit to G. Martin and the team - it made really interesting telly and was he prepared to work hard to get fit enough or what? Really glad they did it. Wonder if he did end up 'exercising with Laura Trott?

I just watched it and thought it was great. I've seen him fly around the TT but must admit, I've never really known much about him. His drive and passion is unbelievable and not much phases him. I now have the rest of the series set to record  :thumb:

James May's latest Toy Story thing is on BBC iPlayer at the moment. In this one he builds a motorbike with sidecar out of meccano and takes it around the TT course. It does also involve a few brief appearances from Oz Clarke, so be warned those that can't stand him!

Just watched James May. It's amazing how the rules can be bent for some publicity because there's no way that was roadworthy. Still a very entertaining program though.
