VELCRO REPAIR / REPLACE
« on: August 11, 2018, 16:52:06 »
I have a great bike jacket which I have worn every day and we have done over 48,000 together.   The only niggle is the velcro cuff strap has worn and no longer sticks together.   It is not full of crud as I have cleaned it regularly just worn out.....

Anyone come across any replacement Velcro pads?

Sew on Velcro is widely available.

Or,  a decent dry cleaners that do alterations. I'm sure replacing a bit of velcro would be easy enough .

It should be, but the unpicking and re stitching of padded linings and waterproof membranes makes the alterations people nervous.

I've got these on my sleeve cuff straps, put them on when the Velcro failed.
Can't remember where I got them (inc kit to fit) but they were similar to this.

As you are Cambridge and not to far away you could try calling Ace Leathers that are opposite Norwich Airport on the Cromer Road.
I buy my textile suits from them and the last had some of the Velcro come loose.
They have a local tailor that does all their repairs and may be happy to give you his contact details. He does a very good job but don’t know what he charges as was covered by warranty.
