Spot lights recommendation / MOT failure (advisory)?

I'm already through my 3rd pair of cheap (Chinese) spotlights that seems to last about one year. I found that always the left one is to give up first. I think last one was advertised on fleeBay as: 125W U5 headlight LED fog Spot lights. On Wednesday next week (3 working days from now) my Glee is booked for an MOT and the left spotlight is completely out (right one is fine). I don't have time to order new ones and replace it by then. Is there any reason of MOT failures or even advisory? Will it be better just to take them off (as I never had them)?

Any recommendation for good ones (reasonably priced) that will last more than one year?

Not completely certain on this but I thought there was a statement in the MOT that said if additional lights are fitted then they have to work. If that is still the case you would be better off removing the duff light.

Last year I removed my non-working light. I don't remember the remaining one being tested, but I thought if they were there they're supposed to work. I've currently got four additional lights out (two fog, two DRL) so am thinking of removing them in advance of the MOT at the end of the month.

I'm also thinking of better ones than the cheap Chinese fog lights as they don't last & while they're cheap enough to replace, replacing them is a PITA as I've soldered them all up.

  I will make some time then on Monday or Tuesday evening to remove them before the test (I will take both out)...I was hoping to avoid the pain. But I guess is better to be safe than redo the MOT.

I was always told that if there was a switch, the lights had to work. Non-functioning indicators could pass a test by removing the switch, thereby eliminating the chance of somebody assuming they worked just because they'd flicked a toggle. If it's easier to demount the switch and tuck it out of sight, I'd consider that for now. No doubt a tester who is up on current - and ever changing - rules will know the ins and outs of this. All lights fitted that have a switch must work . If they don't just remove the switch and then cover the non working lights with tape . The tester isn't allowed to remove the Tape to test the lights .

I had a set of those on my Strom. They were well made.

I've got a set of those lights and almost too bright.
on with main beam then dip and it's so dark

I've had a set of bikevis bullets running on the Varadero for over a year. Tiny little things but they do make you more visable.

They are not meant to be used as fog lights, just small DRL's

  once again. The thing is that there is no separate switch, just wired into ignition. I think I'm just going to take both off for now as I still want to replace them at some point.  I had those lights from eBay previously to the set I currently have and the same, lasted about one year. Water got into the left one.
