A ride out with some friends last year, guess which one of us had not changed his tyres for 16 years  :dl_hyperhysteria:

The tyres weren't the problem. The nut holding the handlebars prevented proper counter steering, limiting the lean angle severely.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

I do hope he changed his underclangers.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Braking through the corner probably didn't help either

Easy mistake, just turned in too early and made it a double apex corner. Then bottled it and target fixated on the grass verge, whilst braking hard which make the bike stand up & go straight.

I did it twice last year (that I can remember) and lost about stone each time.

You're only doing just over 30mph as you approach the corner, god knows what would have happened if he had gone in at a reasonable speed   Glad my glee corners better than that.

Looks like someone has forgotten how to ride or has a complete lack of confidence.  If the tyres are really that knackered then park the bike up.

I bet they looked at the edge of the road rather than where going. Hopefully they've changed the tyres if that's their issue (at least to restore confidence) and got out to practice.

Last year I was trying to flick a bug off the top of my screen as I was setting off on a long straight & nearly rode into a small ditch... reinforced keeping my eyes on where I'm going    :shy:

When we stopped for a break we asked about  his tyres as they were so shiny, he said they were like that when he got the bike, 16 years ago

He needs help. Further training and bike maintenance. Seriously. Just so that everyone is safer.

We all make mistakes and misjudge, but querying tyres that are 16 years old and shiny????

That was a close call......not sure what he was or more probably wasn't thinking, lucky he didn't come off. He looks as stiff as a board on the bike and was not looking where he should so ended up where he was looking. Has he been out in the last 16 years? Oh and ride in front of him next time you don't want to follow his lines :icon_no: End of the day pleased you him and other road users were not hurt.

Too close to the white van so he could not prepare or line himself up for the corner.  He should have been riding where the camera bike was.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

In my personal opinion they were a tad close to the white van so limiting the information about the road - they looked at the verge as it appeared when it was not expected due to being to close to the van and that is where they ended up.    Done it myself as I am sure many of us have.....

Too many excuses - just basic incompetence. Should stick to riding buses.
