Hi all, thanks for the nod about the Suzuki 16T sprocket which is now fitted

It rides much better although still too jerky on the throttle for my taste! So have to decide how to cure this now  :dl_soapbox:

The TC is affected. I ride in TC1 which is fine, but in tc2 it cuts in all the time. The mechanic said its the abs sensors sensing front wheel slip? don't know about that, but the bike is more responsive and fun after the mod and that's what I wanted.

Yet to try the 16t spocket. Try a g2 throttle tamer and or a x-tre for better low speed running and smoother pick u, worked for me.

for jerky throttle my solution was X-TRE installation with 5th gear fuel map, at the beginning of 2015. It solved 90% of the problem. Later on, all the story about new ECU came up and I went to my dealer who swapped the ECU, no questions asked. My original ECU had part number ending with "0" and the new one has the part number ending with "2". My dealer told me at that point that my X-TRE is not needed anymore but I kept it anyway on the bike. However, after new ECU, 100% of jerky throttle problem was solved.
The best way for you is first to confirm the part number on your ECU and if it ends with "0" or "1", start to fight for new ECU.

Some riders have reported difficulty with traction control settings after making the change. Others have not had a problem.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Can't quite decide whether to do this mod or not, I'm happy with current set up but maybe I could be even happier! How's it affecting fuel consumption.

Of course it will consume some more but you'll have so much more fun with the bike that it wouldn't matter.

I'm getting new chain and sprockets in the next few weeks, and will be fitting the 16, even though I tour a lot.

I have 11000 miles or so on the bike, and the drive is still OK,  but I like to keep it fresh rather than wait until the sprockets and chain wear out, it's a big torque v twin running a light chain, so my ocd kicks in... :thumb:

I quite liked the original Bridgestones and got 17,200 kms from them.  Replaced them with Continental TKC70. They did exactly the same road work, same road trips as the Bridgestones but lasted barely 14,000 kms.
The third and recent set have been Anakee 3s as I regard Michelin highly and find the Pilot Road 4s great on my Speed Triple.
After 2,000 kms no noticeable wear and they have performed well right to the edges of the tyre - no chicken strips left at all. Conversely the gravel/dirt I've done on them has been predictable in terms of handling, grip, braking for a tyre rated at only 10% or so offroad.
For me a terrific compromise tyre for a bike that I try to see some dirt on with every ride.
They are a little noisy but the TKCs were much worse when worn. If they wear well I'll consider using only Michelin for all my bikes in the future

I fitted a 43 tooth rear spocket. Didn't want to lower the gearing as much as the 16 counter spocket so tried the 43. Bike is much better at low speed but once up to 70mph its a bit busy. At 80mph its now at 4900 rpm, was 4500 before,  sounds little but its very noticeable.  Lost my relaxed 80-85mph motorway cruise.
