Title: V-STROM 650 12V ACCESSORY SOCKET
Post by: Chris on July 12, 2017, 16:00:57
Hello

I've got a V-STROM 650 12V ACCESSORY SOCKET on my 2012 bike. Just bought an Energizer 12V Twin USB Adapter which works fine in the car 12V socket but not on my bike's one.  I assume it should work an maybe just a fuse is blown or a wire not connected properly? Anyone knows where/what I could check and if there is a PDF with details?

Thanks in advance

The socket:

Does the USB adaptor fit in correctly? I know with mine some adaptors slip out due to the way the socket faces down slightly.

Yeah was pushing it in as much as I could, will check again tomorrow,

Should the socket work without the engine running? I tried it with and without still no luck.

The ignition switch needs to be on.

Okay tried it again this morning with the cable from my Garmin GPS still not working. So seems no power at the socket. Anyone knows how the cables might be routed, what color they are , if and where the fuse is?

Thanks in advance.

Put a meter across the terminals, see if you've got power.
Probably led back to the battery with an inline fuse.

The genuine Suzuki accessory socket is wired to a connector on the inside of the fairing on the right side. The wire colors for the connector are orange and black/white. I don't know about the wire colors from the socket to the connector. You haven't blown a fuse unless the socket has been wired differently from the stock setup. The auxiliary connector used to power the socket is wired through the ignition fuse and the bike won't run if that is blown.

Thanks all, found a PDF after searching the interweb , no way to find it on the Suzuki crappy webpage :-( which shows how to install it. Bloody thing is black and white and doesn't show where it gets power from just what to plug in where. Seems there are two connectors which could be causing the fault. Will have a look with a torch if I can see something do not really want to take all the plastic apart.
