It's all sorted thank you Rusty. It was as I thought the dodgy relay staying closed when it should have opened when the ignition feed was turned off. I've relocated the relay so that if this one goes "rogue", I can bypass it without having to remove the entire front bodywork and tanks.

It works fine now, it managed a return trip into Doncaster to collect a new rear caliper for Mrs Power's Volvo.

I'm just waiting for the rather large package from Germany.... :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I've watched various UK and Aussie programming and noticed some areas pronounce the "r" in arse and others don't. I'll look at the closed caption and see "arse" but sometimes there is no "r" sound. I'll run captions sometimes as I sometimes have trouble understanding the dialog without them.

What's the story there? In the USA, we spell it without an "r" and another "s" instead of the "e" so it's the same as donkey.

The British English word for a bottom is very definitely "arse" - it's an old Anglo-Saxon word (the German equivalent being "Arsch").  In most places around the UK it would be pronounced with a long 'a', to rhyme with "farce". That pronunciation is certainly "The Queen's English" (were that word ever to pass her sainted lips), though in some areas, notably in the north, the "a" will certainly become shorter and flatter (I can't think of a word to rhyme with it though!)  But the "a" would never be as short and flat as "Donkey", as in "lass"...

...except that these days, such is the quantity of US telly that we're exposed to over here, that you'll get youngsters talking about their "Donkey" because that's what they hear on telly.  (My son was talking about a 'Car park' the other day, FFS!). And the other thing is that - really more in days gone by, you might get someone being called a 'silly Donkey', which unlike "stupid arse" would not be at all vulgar, because the meaning would be "silly donkey".  But the sort of thing you'd only ever hear that from someone rather posh in a 1950s B-movie.

So, in short... it's complicated.

But one thing's for sure - the only place in the known universe that you'll see mention of an "arse plug" is on this very forum, courtesy of its magical USA-filter.   I can confirm that the word the Brits use for that particular implement is that same as the US'ians

All clear now?  :icon_no:

It would be clear if the filter hadn't changed it all :)

I don't think I'll be able to do without captions any time soon.

Oh FFS... I knew not to use the word b.u.t.t, but I hadn't realised that the bloody thing would change a.s.s as well  :dl_smiley_banghead:

How's this version, greywolf? - we'll get you off your captions eventually!  (BTW, we call those subtitles here! :dl_hyperhysteria:):

Closed captions and subtitles are different methods of delivering text to screen. I have the choice of either from my satellite TV service. CC is delivered as part of the image information while subtitles are separate and overlaid.
