Yes I'm on about the same mileage. I'd say I've got about another thou in them but due for a change soon and A40s are going back on.

Thanks Pug 27 that nice to know that another rider is getting similar mileage ,  I am replacing mine early as I am having my 22,500 service done at the end of the month before going to Scotland for 6 days riding . I think I will be putting another set on again for definite . But I must say my previous set were the originals which were Battle wings and I got 11'000 out of them as well .  :thumb:

Hi porter, you must be riding harder than us or the roads must be pretty hard over there ??  :thumb:

The motorways are not very long over here so no sittin for hundreds of miles at a constant speed.
I blame the antrim coast road! I went up it yesterday,  enjoyed it so much I turned round and came back down again! lol

As your in larne it would be a sin not to head up the antrim coast,  maybe combine your trip with the north west 200 road race.  Then head to inishowen for malin hesd ( if you can avoid the star wars geeks that is) then round the coast of donegal  (if they get the roadworks finished. not) takn in sleeve league and glencomkille. Head to silgo then and pick up the Atlantic way through mayo till westport then on to co clare and the national park. There are a few big houses etc for the women to look around on route. Then if you still have time visit the cliffs of moher other side of Galway.  Was there last summer and there where bus loads of Chinese wearing face masks!  You could hardly stand with the wind!
The ring of kerry is nice to but busy and maybe a bit to far down if you've just 7 days, you could do it but they'd be long days.

Hi. Does anyone else find the front Brighstone a40 tyre harsh on bumps, more so than the oe Bridgestone? Mine is a Veek.   I've dropped the pressure to 34 and backed off the compression damping another 2 clicks but no joy.  Feels so much harder than before  r is it just me

Yes.
Noticeable from the moment I fitted them.
I tried the pressures down 10% which improves the ride quality, handling is 'OK' with reduced pressures until things get spirited then it goes all squirmy & vague. So I'm back to stock 33/36 (glee)
The tyres seem good in other respects but I won't fit them again due to the harshness.

Thanks.  Not just me then. I only fitted a rear when the oe wore out at 6k, all was good but then when the oe front went at 9k I put the matching a40 on, all was great at first with a new tyre on but now 2k in its so harsh, this combined with the veeks harsh fork is very annoying!
Cheap as they where I'll be buyin pr4 or the like next.

I fitted them and have done about 3700 miles. I don't feel any harshness or bumpiness. I had it fitted by Michael at Charles Hurst. Maybe balancing? Pressure? Style of riding?

I am more than pleased with them and will definitely fit them again

Michael fitted mine too so balance and fitting is OK. Pressure was standard 36 42 combo. Dropped front till 34 but same  just a stiffer walled tyre than oe stones I think.

I did notice that it took two experienced blokes plus a tyre machine to get one of mine fitted to the rim, glad I never had a go myself!

Just a quick update. 12,100 miles from the A40s and the rear is now on the wear indicator the front is not far off. Really impressed with them so will be off to get another pair fitted this week. No dramas from them what so ever.

I'm replacing the stock Battlaxes with A40's.  Just arrived in the post. Hoping to get a bit more from the A40 than 6-7k from Battlax rear, was not best pleased with them at all.

Previously put the Tourance Next on my DL650 but sold it before I could full distance out of them. They fared quite well in the 5k I put on them and felt they could do the same again before replacing. I wanted something different this time.

Pug27, you got some good miles out of yours. You have any luggage fitted or any extra weight?

I use the bike all year round, 5 days a week on my commute to work 50 mile round trip with mix of motorway and country roads. Approx 3k miles were with full luggage and associated camping gear etc. 2 up occasionally as my OH has her own bike(wee also with A40s). I keep the tyre pressure on the Vee at 36 front and 40 rear. Have had no issues whatsoever with the tyres in any weather (touch wood) and had another set fitted about 1500 miles ago.
