"Ford Mondeo" of motorcycles
« on: September 29, 2015, 11:53:25 »
A lot of talk about Hondas on here, which brought to mind an article that I read recently. The author was not slating Hondas, far from it, they have their quirks just like any other make, generally speaking Honda make very good motorbikes. However - he went on to say that as far as he was concerned, Hondas in general & VFR's in particular are the motorcycling equivalent to the Ford Mondeo. I had never really thought about it before but I know exactly what he means!

that's funny, cos I've  always thought of my Glee as a Vauxhall Astra of a bike.

Well it is a matter of opinion of course but in the "wisdom" according to Jeremy Clarkson - Vauxhalls, all of them, are just plain awful. Mondeos are not awful, they are very good in fact but they are boring.

I have a Volvo.

I call it Dreadnought cos it's grey.

I have a Cagiva. I call it nail cos it is and it gets hammered. :Traitors:
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I thought the Deauville was the Ford Mondeo of the biking world.

I had a Triumph Sprint ST which is the Rolls Royce amongs bikes  :thumb:

The Transalp was the Mondeo!
Deauville = Late 90's Escort
Pan Euro = Scorpio
Gold Wing + trailer = blinged Transit
CBR = Fiesta XR2i
Blackbird -Sierra Cosworth
Varadero = Capri (big and heavy but what an engine)
CX500 = Cortina

 lol

What a dreadful thread.

A bike is a bike, a car is a car and I would personally take the former over the latter any day of the week!

to be fair there was less rust on my 30 year old Cx500 than there was alu fuzz on a 6 year old V-Strom, they'd both done about the same mileage.

I now own 2 Honda's and zero Suzuki's.

Honda made some shockingly pants bikes, but so did Suzuki and every other manufacturer.
