Yeh, I was going to suggest it could be a european bike dealer.
I've heard of this on other bike forums, they can double their money on the price once resold in some Eastern European countries.
Can be a no fuss way of selling your bike... but the UK used motorcycle market will suffer eventually, especially if it this gets more popular.

No doubt "we buy any bike" will jump on the band wagon soon and the cost of used bikes will sore. Great if you've already got a few.
Also it'll help new bike sales so not all bad news.

My old vstrom was exported to Poland, fella came with a van, put me on the phone with the buyer, V5 signed for export, he gave me the money and off he went.

My old Honda Deauville  sold the same way, bloke turned up with a wad of Scottish  £20 notes, signed over the paperwork and off it went to Holland.  I think your buyer is from Poland.

Don't think you should be giving the whole log book to how m. You wouldn't normally. Might be worth checking that with dvla

I think you give almost all of the v5 when it's for export, iirc there's a little yellow slip you keep.

That's true. I needed to hand over the full V5 (but the export slip) to the local authorities for import (in NL). Otherwise they can't check whether it's a legit bike.

If he is paying cash and you are as certain as you can be that the cash is legit then it doesn't matter what he does/doesn't do with the V5.
Just get the cash...

I've been doing some research and it appears exporters need all the v5 except the export part . I shall double check the cash don't worry .  :thumb:.

May sound a little sad but I've grown quite attached my Vee, I've done lots of work to it and been on many road trips.  Although it's getting sold its not how I wanted it to go , somehow seeing it being bundled onto the back of a lorry isn't quite what I imagined .
Oh well, where ever it ends up I hope the new owner enjoys this bike as much as I have.

While riding through France the other week I saw two 'RO' registered (Romanian?) vehicles following each other, both towing car trailers with British registered cars on them. Neither was new, but both looked recent and in good condition. It seemed odd, and the suspicious part of me was trying to make a mental note of each (I failed incidentally) but I eventually decided they must be doing exactly what seems to be happening to your bike. There's clearly a market, most probably both legit and dodgy, for vehicles and parts. A van full of bikes could be a nice little earner, and you don't have the hassle of left/right-hand drive.!

Yup, I had a ZX4 (baby ZX10) that was imported by BAT. :)

Don't worry, it won't be the last you see of it. If it's being sold in Eastern Europe they'll likely be moving here soon anyway.

You can notify DVLA of the sale online nowadays, which is a lot better than posting the V5..

I'm still sceptical but every time I've had contact they seem pretty genuine. Going to view a bike sat so hoping to get it all done before then.

He's going to be a script writer for eastenders. He's already turned a vstrom sale into a two parter and got hundreds of viewers. How will it all turn out ?
