I have the p4's on my Veek, and they really are a stunning tyre for all weather grip and feel.
They get good reports on durability too, I know when they wear out I will go with them again.

I have Tourances on my Vee, I love them, plenty of grip and confidence on gravel covered UCR's BUT if I only did clean tarmac miles I'd be looking for a road specific tyre, I've used PR2's on a few bikes so I guess PR4's would be top of the list. Be prepared for lots of different opinions though!

PR4's are a great choice for pure road miles, the wet weather grip is amazing. No use whatsoever on anything resembling off road however.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

I'm just about to bin my Bridgestones and as I do 100% on road the Anakee 3 looks top choice. Looks a bit slick though!

The Tourance EXP is probably second choice. Its reported to get good on/off road grip and looks the part.(£75 rear)

If you ride all year round, the older Anakee 2 gets good reports for cold temps (Canada) as it is high in Silica.

Hi ASMITH61,  I used maldon auto safe, in Heybridge, no issues, they really are great tyres for road work.

I had Anakee IIIs for my previous 12,000 miles. Have now gone PR4s which I got from Openeo for £168 delivered (Glee). Local garage charges £10 per loose wheel to fit though I balanced my self.

Hi,

Recently put Metzler Tourance on my DL650 and so far liking them a lot. Only done about 1500 miles on them so far but they feel like they have transformed the bike. Good grip in the wet and they feel better on local gravel tracks than the standard fit tyres did.

Regards

I've had a few pairs of anakee 2's fitted on the wee. Great tyres but getting harder to find. The 3's are more road focused but both get reports of 10k miles for the rear and twice that for the front.
I was riding hard and right over to the edge with the 2's. I'm sure the 3's will be no different.

I've also fitted PR1's to the strom in the early days. Rode like a dream on the twisties. Rears lasted 9k from an old tech tyre.

I've managed to get hold of a set of the new fancy Metzler Roadtec 01. Pure road tyres that look quite good if the blurb is to be believed and comes in strom sizes.

I had Michelin PR3s on my Bandit and the difference compared to the old Pirrelli Stradas I had was night and day both in the dry and wet.
My old boss fitted PR4s to his Tiger 800 and he found the same.
Although on recommendation of the tyre place he fitted a road specific rear and trail PR4 front. He was told get more mileage out of road pattern rear if not doing any trail riding.
I will use the stock tyres this summer as can't afford to change them when bike so new but will look at PR4s when the Autumn gets here.

Hi Rab

After much deliberation I put some Angel GT's on my 650. They are a superb tyre and have literally transformed the bike. I ride in all conditions and they have tons of grip. You can rack up serious mileage on these!

Just to add my ten 'pennath...I put Metzler Tourance 'nexts' on my 650 in the summer. All of my riding is on tarmac..and while they give good grip, they are wearing fast..4500 miles and the rear is rather flat. I am dissappointed in their wear...so I will try another brand next time...probably Pirelli's from the reviews I have read.

The last three sets of tyres for my DL650 K5 has one set of Anakee 2 and two sets of Anakee 3, with the 3's lasting around 20000km.

On my DL1000 L5 the stock OEM are only half worn down, but I am already starting the research for my next set. May be the Bridgestone A40 or the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2...?

I fitted the Michelin pr4`s
first run with them today, roads were slippy this morning, sun came out and the bikes is slightly different handling, must say the tyres were OK so far, just breaking them and myself in after the winter layoff. lol
done 100 ish miles on them.
so far so good.

Impressed with those of you getting 20,000km (12,500 miles) on Anakee 3s. I've done just under 8,000 miles on mine and the front has perhaps another 1,000 to go, and has a weird irregular wear pattern so I might change it earlier. Strangely the rear's doing better than the front.

I'll probably go for A3s again.

Petstep, you may have a problem up front, based on your report of front tyre wear. A few things to check would be: fork oil replacement due / steering head bearings worn or needs adjustment / front rim out of balance / tyre beading not seated correctly / incorrect tyre pressure, etc.
Just a thought...
