The Nurburgring is the most mental place.
I personally have been around there nearly 50 times, on one of those laps I was nearly taken out by a 3 series BMW trying to undertake me just after the fox hole (think it's called that) while I was on my zx12r and sliding into the Armco at over 120mph..!! That wasn't a cheap lap for him .. :fix:. Armco prices are expensive..!!

But in the up side all those laps got my bridge to gantry time down to 8min 20secs ..  :lala:.

Yeah, can't say I'm particularly tempted!

Out of interest, what's the insurance situation when you drive on there?  Obviously your normal road insurance doesn't work, but is it compulsory to be insured for third-party damage, whether it's to the Armco or that poor schmuck who got rear-ended?

To be honest I'm unsure as to current requirements but around 7 years ago when I was mad enough to risk it  you didn't need any insurance , it's a private road, anything goes. It's pretty much the same rules as racing , if you crashed with someone else well, that's racing ..!!
As for track damage , By buying a ring card you accept the terms and conditions so if you crashed you are entirely liable for any track damage. You are charged from the minute they pick you up and they note every bit of damage. An example of how bad they are, a mate developed a small oil leak from his stator cover in the car park and an official tried to charge him for it .  :icon_no:.

I've enjoyed a few laps on the "Green Hell" myself. With a few sub 10 minute laps to boot. Can be a very expensive place to run out of talent.
I spent a few hours on the playstation getting to know the circuit before attempting a proper lap....
