Blade Swindon what are they playing at
« on: June 26, 2018, 12:45:43 »
Hello all. I bought my brand new DL650XT from Swindon Blades, collecting tomorrow. I got a deal, since it has been in the showroom for sometime and manufactured in 2017 (5 miles on the clock) , I could have it for the price of a base model £7542. Said OK good deal, what about the £750 worth of free accesories when you get a new bike. The answer was well you know, you’ve already have a great deal blah blah blah, since you pay for the basic model and get xt, we can give you £250 worth of accesories. I’m thinking, yeah that is a valid point, so opted in for crashbars. Jus had a phone call from Blade’s saying that my bike is all ready, but they could not get hold of my crashbars  :GRR: will have to wait until they become available.
My question is, is this really possible or they trying to play little games with me? I can actually picure myself ringing them every week for the next months trying to get the bloody crashbars fitted.
Saying this, I still have not paid for the bike (paying in cash tomorrow). I’m thinking about going in and saying koff you lot you’ve not kept your part of agreement, I’m not buying lol
What would you gurus suggest I do?

If I was paying that much out in cash I would go for more than £250 worth of accessories.

Don't hand over any cash until you have something in writing .

With the demise of George Whites and Artdeans, there is no competition in the area for a new bike. I don't believe Budget Bikes do anything new?

Hold on to your money until the Bars are listed on the invoice with a committed date.

Tell them you've seen an ex demo elsewhere with added extras and will go there .

A friend at work purchased one a few months ago ... pre registered 66 plate with the adventure pack fitted and 30 miles on the clock for £5500.

I took delivery of my 2018 650XT at the beginning off the month. Suzuki have had supply issues with the crash bars. Mine arrived last week and will be fitted next week at the first service.

Sounds like they are being honest about that. I would question not getting the full 750 pounds worth as that appears to be a Suzuki offer, not a dealer offer.

You have a fair point there. Will go tomorrow and have a chat with them about this £750 offer. Have just been on the phone with fowlers in Bristol and yes, Suzuki seem to be out of stock of the crashbars. At least they’re being honest. There are the silver ones available though, but would still prefer to wait and get black ones.
Regardless of this all it is a new bike day tomorrow  :lala: :lala: :lala:

Just make sure the crashbars are listed on the invoice as to follow up, and if you are happy with the deal then go for it.

Really it should have been listed on the invoice when you paid the deposit...

It's not just Suzuki that don't stock enough parts, Kawasaki have supply issues with most of the GT kit for the Versys.

Enjoy the bike...  :thumb:

For the £750 voucher a dealer orders the parts and they fill in a credit request from Suzuki for the cost value of the goods against the VIN number of the bike.
As your bike is an L7 2017 model it will be turned down for the voucher by Suzuki.
I used to be the one to track all these vouchers until I left the dealership a month ago.

Yes Suzuki can and do run out of stock.
They don't make everything themselves and even if they did the main manufacturing base is in Japan. Suzuki hold a fair amount of stock in the UK but Germany is the main European warehouse. If Germany runs out it generally needs to come from Suzuki Japan.

For the £750 voucher a dealer orders the parts
That's what the dealer said and I was sort of OKish with it considering I had a better spec'd bike for a price of a base model. But still I did insist on having some freebies and was promised £250 which we both agreed on.
Will make sure that it shows on the invoice tomorrow, if not they can keep my£200 deposit and I will simply walk away (which I have done in the past with my car dealer).

one more question
is the manufacturer's warranty transferable onto the next owner? Was looking at ex demo bike as well but they told me that I would only get 3 months warranty with it, because Suzuki warranty only stays with the first owner, which I find odd to be honest?

My 2016 used Suzuki Burgman scooter came with the balance of a three year warranty.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

The warranty lasts for the manufacturers set period from the date of first registration reguardless of how many owners it's had.

As for the deposit... you are legally entitled to a refund of the deposit if you wish to cancel the deal before you have collected/taken delivery of the bike.

I have just looked at the dvla website and it seems like the bike has just been registered, but as a year of manufacture they give 2018? But when I signed the paperwork I can swear that it said L7 so how is that possible then? any clues?

That also shows zero for emissions, so it looks preliminary to me.

Right. Time for an update. Went in today with an attitude, sat at the desk and started having a go. as it turned out for absolutely no reason. This is 2018 L8 bike. I am getting my extras next week, have it on my invoice with commitment date as 6.7. First 600 mile service free of charge. I am a one happy bunny today.
