Hi,
My name is John and I have been riding a 650 dl for the last 5000 miles of my motorcycling life. I can't really fault the bike so far. I use the bike everyday whether its snowing or beautiful sunshine. My list of upgrades includes:
1) Heated grips
2) Fitting a scottoiler
and that's it! If any one has any suggestions for what would make an already hugely practical and fun bike better / longer lasting I would love to hear them. I don't want to spend money for the sake of it but I intend to ride my v-strom everyday for the next 4/5 years so and any preventive maintenance / fun additions I can add would be good to hear about.
Cheers,
John.
hi john...I have the 650 and use it everyday for work
in my humble ...... I would upgrade the front fork springs and oil as ap ....about 80quid all in
raising links off ebay ..15 quid easy to fit shapen a already sharpe bike ...but help very well with the limited peg clearence .....
madstat brackets are a brilliant addition .....
I use a 16 tooth front sprocket .... the bike pulls it easy and 90mph all day is no problem .......
gsxr 600 Suzuki part number 27510 20A10
I prefer the less revvy nature at highway speeds .....I don't really notice any loss of pep low down ...I suppose you can hold the gear longer if your in the mood to move .....
a mudguard extender ....the oil cooler and header don't like crud
must get rid of road salt ...every day and it stands up well in winter
ebc hh pads help at the front .....
tyres ...its much better without the trailwings ....I use o21 rear 020 front
I traeted meself to ohlins rear shock ...............its really nice ...
bearin mind you will get half your money back on ebay after use for some of
the stuff its not so bad over four or five years ...........
hope this helps
