The basic symptoms were: turn on the engine, No fuel pump noise, FI light and HISS light stayed on, Bike would turn but not fire because its immobilised.  :dl_smiley_banghead:

Given the TTR250 a good look over, ripped out the spot light that dangled from the front indicators  made a list of all the bits I needed, checked it twice and asked the mrs for permission. Then emptied my wallet.
Jen has recently let me have free reign with the bank account. New bike, loads of bike bits, time to go ride them. She's angling for something, I can feel it.
But what?
I don't know, that's what worries me.  :dl_hyperhysteria:

I have neglected our Quad Bike over the last few months  :shy:

One of the Tyres had a slow puncture, the good people at ATS sorted that.

The Ignition switch was being temperamental, I had already replaced the original with another OE one (£35)  This time I took a punt on a generic one for £6  ten minutes with a Soldering Iron to make it fit the loom and all done.

The Battery has been failing for some time, eventually a cell gave out. New Battery fitted  :fix:

The digital clocks failed sometime ago, I found a new replacement so that's done too.

Finally, Plug, Air Filter, Engine Oil, Transmission Oil and Front & Rear Diff Oil all replaced

Oh, and I even fixed the seat latch. I think that will do for another year  :fix: :fix:

It's been a busy few weeks.

A couple of weeks back the Super Sherpa was sold and replaced with a Yamaha TT250RS.

It's had a bit of surgery.
Tail tidy,
number plate light,
ignition barrel,
heated grips,
flexi number plate,
rimlock in the rear wheel,

Today I've taken the shock off to unseize the preload rings and set to max. (I'm fat)
stripped and greased the shock linkages and removed the lowering link and replaced with the stock ones.
It's bloody tall now. I stopped on a slope and nearly lost it. Off road it's going to be interesting.

And to top off my week (and spending) Saturday the Varadero wouldn't start.
After 7 years the original battery gave up.
18amp/h batteries are bloody expensive, even when you work in a bike shop.

With SWMBO out with the outlaws this afternoow, the only thing I could think to do was take the TTR for a test ride.

It's missing most of the decals, but I'm not fussed on most of the designs anyway. But I attacked it with a wad of Stickers.

Cheers Andy,

there is an Adventurebiker.net sticker above the headlight, and I have a Campsite one ready to go on.

New screen fitted! Helped with the issue I was having (wind being directed right in my chest and going up inside my helmet, making my face freeze...tried all the usual hoodies, balaclavas, snoods...blocking the underside of the helmet off etc to no avail)

Also - when hitting a bump or accelerating hard I could hear what could only be described as a "plastic rattling" sound...just put it down to being either some kind of normal noise from the rather "agricultural" engine on the BMW, or some kind of plastic rattle to be expected from a fully faired bike.
Cleaned this bike today after my night shift and thought I would investigate...Turns out though, it was my hugger! the metal bracket attaching it to the swing arm had snapped so when hitting a bump or accelerating the hugger was just sitting on the tyre and rubbing!! haha :dl_smiley_banghead: removed it now as I don't think a hugger is necessary on this bike as the design of the underneath is 1 solid plastic piece so nothing much to get sprayed full ofmuck and very easy to clean shock seems nicely hidden too. I will probably get a new hugger but it is certainly not a priority at present.

Oil & filter change on the Nail. Researching changing the wheels, I'm not a fan of tubed tyres and a 17" front would be nice.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

 :haha:

You need to get the peak on your lid round the back and take up riding very slowly only using one arm while listening to rap music  :thumb:

Can a GS be lowered so the sump scrapes over speed bumps?
