Vstrom top box plate
« on: April 24, 2018, 12:57:22 »
Hi All, New to the forum and I am sure there has been many questions about this topic but I am not great with Forum threads too old for learning ! I have just bought a 2013 650 v-strom and looking for the adaptor plate so I can fit my Givi v46 top box and I have already got a M5 monokey plate is it just the adaptor plate I need or is the M5 monokey plate different as in shape or the holes , as on Sportsbikeshop you get the adaptor plate and the M5 plate together for £54 but the adaptor plate is only £31  and I was wondering if my M5 plate was any different sorry I am very confused regards Colin.

[EDITED]

I looked up your bike on the givi website and they list 3 mounting kits for top boxes, but sadly it doesn't look like you'll be able to reuse your M5 plate with any of the Givi mounting kits offered for your bike.

The SR3101M is the version designed for monolock boxes not the monokey one you already have, so avoid this one.

The SR3101 comes with a plastic monokey plate.

The SRA3101 comes with an anodised black aluminium monokey plate.

After checking the installation instructions for the top box mounting kits it seems they all come with specific plates designed for each kit.

So the short version is no you won't be able to reuse that M5 plate..
