The driving in Russia is something to be desired.... . Glad the rider wasn't injured.

typical stupid cager not looking. If he didn't lock up his rear though he may have been able to skim round the front. Still, not nice.

Proper use of the bike's brakes would probably have saved the situation. As is typical, too little front and too much rear was used. Practice, practice, practice until the muscles used in emergency braking become reflexive. Of course the car driver was at fault here, but it's better not to have a crash even if it is somebody else's fault. ABS would have prevented the rear locking as it did and then it's just a question of using enough front brake pressure quickly enough.

I know dash cam videos on cars are often Russian but V-Stroms are very rare in Russia. I don't see anything that indicates this happened in Russia. Enlighten me.

I've just again looked at this video frame by frame and the rider appears to apply both brakes @ 3secs which lifted the rear causing his rear end to lighted and skid,  then he let go of the front brake and kept his foot on the rear brake leaving the rear to skid out of control.
The conditions were dry and if he held on the front he may have controlled it but he may have been an  inexperienced rider and in those split second moments it's always a lottery .  :icon_no:

But is no other country using that scheme? The titles of other Youtube uploads by Piotr L make me think he's from Poland. I can't really see any plate clearly enough to be sure what they look like.

Yes. I am indeed from Poland but what difference does it make? :) And yes, many countries does this colour scheme but as far as I remember the movie was cut from some russian car crash compilation I believe.

I guess I should have realised the disconnect between Facebook and YouTube. I was going under the impression the person posting the video to YouTube was the one who took the video. Anyway, I'm surprised to See a V-Strom in Russia. Every person I've ever seen joining Stromtrooper who had a Russian ip address was a spammer who didn't own a V-Strom. I check new members from Russia, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand because they have always been spammers so far.

Number plates - white with black letters and numbers - 100% russia ;)
Half of Europe adopted such plates, Nteherlands, Belgium and UK are exception. Uploaded by Polish Youtuber, but there is Lada on the road. What is rarer: Lada in Poland or Vstrom in Russia
Could also be Ukraine. Note the black ribbon on the blind cager radio antenna. In June 2014 there was national mourning after military plane crash in Ukraine. Also after Odessa clashes in may 2014 national mourning was in place.

EDIT:

I should learn by now to read whole topic, then comment :)
