Managed to remove rear wheel AND tyre inside 40 minutes. Is this a record? No a knackered Dunlop.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Advancing decrepitude causes me increased difficulty climbing on to the Tracer. I just can't get my leg over. ( no laughing at the back there). So I ordered the longer dog bones that Yamaha supply and these should have been available from today.
Being somewhat impatient I decided to investigate the job.
I put the bike up on the lifting table and raised it to a reasonable working height.

The nuts and bolts are hidden behind the swing arm so to get at them :-
Remove the exhaust system
Rock the bike on the centre stand and shove in strips of plank and jack up the bike by about 80mm.
Remove the pillion footrest hangers (both sides)
Undo the bolts retaining the rear brake master cylinder
Remove the lower bolt from the suspension.
Lower the swing arm until a socket and drive can be used on the nuts and bolts that retain the dog bones. These nuts seemed to be thread locked and the sockets which were in good condition twisted the heads and had to hammered back on and with the addition of a silent prayer eventually cracked  and came undone.

Go back to the bike shop and order two bolts and nuts for reassembly.

Fingers crossed I get the parts and put it all back together in time for Skegvagas next Saturday.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

My new rear tyre hasn't shown up yet, I might be refitting the old one ....

New Roadsmart 3 arrived, fitted in 15 mins. I left it next to the hall radiator to warm it up, certainly a lot easier to fit when they're warm. :lala:

I don't have the heating on in the summer, but I do need it for other 11 months of the year.

Of course the heating's still on. I'm still in my winter combinations until June.

Been trying to get the timing chain back on the bottom sprocket on my xt225 without removing the side casing. Must be the longest top end rebuild ever. 2 months so far :D

Started packing my camping gear for the Taffy Dakar. Took the bags over to the garage... somewhere under the bags is a 250cc bike.
Think the handling will be 'interesting'.

Collected lowering dog-bones and new nuts and bolts. (£45)
All fitted after copious cursing. ### I'd like to see a workshop manual guide to getting at those nuts. A one hour job that only took four.
Test ride tomorrow.

Finished run in yesterday. 150 miler to Skeggy and back in sleet and the Doncaster monsoon  :bawl:

Up today and down to the stealers on an inch of snow  :bawl:

Still, job done and now free to release all 55 horses and 7000 rpm  :dl_ninite:

I even found time to fit a battery to the old boys burgervan so he could get it out of my garage. The tow in on Sunday was a laugh though, 20 mph on 30 feet of nylon strap behind a Dacia on a dead scooter

Picked up this little beauty, rode it 6 miles home, parked it in the garage and used the Mrs bike to get to the  Taffy Dakar!
